Frequently asked questions

What are your prices?

I charge an hourly rate of $140/hr, and the shop has a $60 minimum. Tattoos that will take less than 1 1/2 hours are typically charged a flat rate for the design, while tattoos that will take longer than that are charged at the hourly rate.

What methods of payment do you accept?

All payments are currently CASH-ONLY. Please bring cash with you to your appointment! Deposits up to $100 can be accepted online via Square or Venmo.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments are asked to inform me of cancellations or reschedule requests with a minimum of 24 hours notice. If you are a no-call, no-show or you leave less than 24 hours notice of cancellation, you may be asked to leave a deposit between $50 and $100 (depending on how long your appointment is) in order to re-book your appointment. If you have already left a deposit and you leave less than 24 hours notice of cancellation but more than 12 hours, you'll lose half of your deposit. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 12 hours notice, you will lose all of your deposit.

We don't make money when we aren't tattooing, and last-minute cancellations leave us with no time to fill your spot with another client. Please be as considerate as possible with my time, and I'll do the same for you!

When can I see my drawing?

Drawings for tattoos are done in the order that they will be tattooed, and usually they are done the day before or morning of the appointment day. For larger pieces, I may draw the design 2-3 days in advance. I'm sure that it can be frustrating, especially for non-visual people, to not have a concrete idea of what their tattoo will be until the day of the appointment draws nearer, and I can understand that! However, my method is mostly to ensure that I'm not drawing something ahead of time, then have the client cancel or reschedule (hence why I draw within the 24 hour timeframe where I expect a client who has to cancel will have already done so). Sometimes, people also change their minds as they have time to mull over their design, and I want to minimize the amount of time I spend changing a drawing or completely redrawing an idea.

(Side note: If you show up to your appointment and I DO have to do a complete redraw because you've changed your mind, it's likely that we'll have to reschedule your appointment.)

What kind of tattoo styles do you like to tattoo?

My favorite styles to tattoo are Neotraditional, Kawaii/Anime, American traditional, and animals/animal portraits! I have a strong preference for organic themes, such as animals, flowers, and plants, as well as female faces and figures, including pin-up girls! I do have an illustrative style to my work (check out my portfolio if you haven't already), which bleeds into nearly every piece I make, so please keep that in mind.

My illustrative style also lends itself very nicely to cartoons, and I absolutely love doing anime-inspired or cute pieces! You want Pokemon? Bring it over! I also love doing glitter effects! I have no preference for black and grey or color and love both equally, though I may suggest one over the other depending on subject matter.

What kind of tattoos do you NOT like to tattoo?

I currently do not do portrait tattoos of real people, realistic landscape tattoos, or detailed sacred geometry pieces (excluding mandalas). I'm also a little iffy on micro tattoos, but we can discuss this and I can let you know if your idea is doable in that style. I know plenty of amazing artists in the industry though that tattoo the styles I don't, and I'm happy to refer you to someone!

Other tattoos that don't spark joy for me: logos, flags, and symbols, especially sports logos, and most bands which connect completely around the arm or leg.

I will NOT tattoo fingers on new customers, and I will only tattoo fingers of returning clients at my discretion.

Will you do cover-ups or redo/finish another artist's work?

In most cases, yes! Cover-ups and tattoo redos are all very unique, and as such, what can be done with them and their outcomes varies widely. Please mention when filling out the booking form that your desired tattoo is a cover-up or a redo and send images of the existing tattoo! Consultations are usually booked first for these types of tattoos before booking the appointment. While I'm comfortable finishing another artist's work in most cases, this decision comes at my discretion.

Can you tattoo over scar tissue?

In most cases, yes! Scars need to be fully healed (at least one year) before it is recommended to tattoo over them. Scar tissue also varies widely in how it presents, and some is easier to tattoo than others. If your scars are especially raised, thick, or large, it may be more difficult to tattoo over than a scar which is faint or indented, like a burn scar. Tattoos over scar tissue also sometimes don't hold as well as other tattoos and may need to be touched up sooner, depending on the scar.

I've tattooed over many self-harm scars, stretch marks, burn marks, surgery scars, and more, and I'd be happy to do a consultation with you to review your specific case and see what we can do!

Do I need to do anything to prepare?

Make sure you've gotten a decent night's sleep, and it's usually best if you've eaten sometime in the last 4 hours before getting a tattoo. Be sure to hydrate, too! You are more than welcome to bring food and beverages with you to your appointment to eat before or after, or during a small break in the tattoo process (just no eating while getting your tattoo, per OSHA regulations). If you take aspirin daily, please refrain for 48 hours leading up to your appointment. This should be obvious, but please do not arrive drunk or hungover. If you're hungover, the alcohol in your blood will thin it out, similarly to an aspirin regimen, and your body will push out more of the ink as I'm tattooing you.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes! There is space available for one person to join you in the tattoo booth while you get tattooed if desired. Other guests are welcome to sit in our lobby while they wait. Our shop has two seating areas, one at the front of the shop and one at the back, but please be mindful that these are shared spaces with other patrons.

Please DO NOT BRING SMALL CHILDREN UNLESS AN ADULT IS PRESENT TO SUPERVISE THEM. I get it--finding a babysitter can be tough. But tattoo shops are full of biohazardous material, used needles, very strong cleaning chemicals, and other dangers that make it imperative that they are properly supervised. The other artists will not do this for you, and it's distracting for me to worry about what might be happening outside of my line of sight. Let's keep everyone safe!

Will you tattoo a minor?

Yes! Minors that are at least 16 years of age can receive a tattoo--however, their parent or legal guardian MUST be present to sign for them, and their guardian must have paperwork that proves they are legally able to sign off on the tattoo. If your child has a state-issued ID or driver's permit/license, they will need this, plus your ID. Your last names must match. If your last names do not match, you will also need to bring their birth certificate or a photo of the birth certificate. If your child does not have a state-issued ID or permit/license, they may use a school ID with their birth certificate or photo of birth certificate. Copies will be made of these items to attach to their paperwork.

How do I care for my new tattoo?

Please visit the Aftercare page for a detailed breakdown of the tattoo aftercare process!

What is your touch-up policy?

Touch-ups are offered free of charge for up to one year after your tattoo is finished (if your tattoo is multiple sessions, up to one year after the final session). Finger tattoos and tattoos which are damaged due to reasons outside of application technique (think road rash, cat scratches, burns, improper aftercare) may be subject to a $20 fee at my discretion.
